Fix the DHS background process

Minnesota — like states all over the country — is experiencing a shortage of providers. We have a shortage of doctors, a shortage of clinicians, and a shortage of peer recovery specialists. The DHS background process is an impediment to equity, blocks some of the individuals with the most-vital lived experiences, and helps maintain an untenable status quo. We are pushing for mandatory timelines for working through the setaside process, a consistent approach that more appropriately weighs the value of lived experience, and more transparency into the process.
